My Aunt TK was talking about this cake stand craft she was going to make. I was never involved in the making process, but it sounded super cool so I decided to give it a whirl. These are the items you need. I bought an icecream sundae cup and a few other glasses and a few plates and a glass bowl. I think I paid $6.50 total at a local thrift store. To glue the glass together you will use E-6000 glue which I found at Walmart for around $2.80. Total spent: $9.30 All you do is put the glue around the rim of the cup (put cup upside down) and glue to the middle of the plate. It will need to dry for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure you only put glue on the edges of the cup, especially on the clear glass because you can see right where the glue is if you aren't careful. Let them dry...and VOILA! I haven't made any cakes to put on there yet, but wouldn't these be a fun gift to give someone with a bunch of cupcakes? I think yes. I made these late at night, hence my bad lighting. The pictures don't do them justice, but I sure love them. And my bird salt and pepper shakers sure love them too! A perfect little place for them to sit! Cute eh? Me likey. Easter Morning Yarn Maze (my kids LOVE this) 03/30/2010
With Easter coming upon us this weekend, I have been getting ready for the day. The kids were quick to remind me that we need to get yarn for our yearly tradition...which I thought I had to share! I read about this several years ago, and you can find more details about it here The night before Easter we place the kids Easter Baskets and a thing of yarn in each basket. The next morning when the kids get up, there is a yarn maze leading them to their basket. We use a different color for each kid (to help keep it more simple), but they LOVE going on a hunt trying to find their basket. We make it super crazy, going downstairs, under things, back upstairs - all over the place! It has been a fun tradition that the kids ask for every year. I wish I had a picture of my kids doing this, but I don't...so this picture will give you the general idea: I guarantee if you try it with your kids, it will be a hit... whoo hoo for yarn and yarn mazes :) Quick Facts: Business Name: Oler Photography Location: South Jordan, Utah (serves Salt Lake and Utah County) Website: www.olerphotography.com Blog: www.olerphotography.blogspot.com E-mail: olerphotography@gmail.com I am very excited to spotlight our first Photography Feature on Esbe Chic! I was offered this table for the cost of: free I went and picked it up, and this is how it looked: My husband saw me unloading it and asked what in the heck I had picked up. He told me that it just needed to be thrown into the fire.... a piece of junk that wasn't worth my time or energy. So I decided to prove him wrong. I kept saying, it's not trash, it will be a treasure...and he just laughed. As long as I was happy with my little project he didn't mind, but still thought I was silly. I started putting it together (a few times) and almost gave up, I wasn't sure there was hope for this little table. But...I finally got the legs back on and sanded it down...it started looking good, and then I knew there was hope. With a little TLC and a can of spray paint, I turned this little guy into this: I pretty much love it. Total cost: $3.80 for the spray paint - oh how I love good finds! Look how cute it is...don't you love it too? I gotta prove to the hubby that my time and effort was a success :) Thanks Jackie for my hook-up with my free table. I'm excited to put it in my guest bedroom once the bedroom is finished! I love you my little blue table :) Frame Craft 03/24/2010
I picked up these frames from a local thrift store for $0.75/ each. I spray painted them black, and sanded them a bit to make them look cooler. This one I added a cute piece of scrapbook paper... Simple and cute....right? :) This one I just used a card that I got from a friend, I really LOVE how it turned out. I was pretty stoked about adding some new decor to my house for a whopping $1.50. I think I need to go search for more frames, I have some fun ideas floating in my head for my daughters room. Drab to Fab 03/23/2010

Thank you for all your entries! We have some fun giveaways planned over the next several weeks, so please check back for more goodness :) Thanks, Brit Easter Countdown Craft 03/17/2010
I read about this idea in Family Fun magazine. I thought it looked like a super cute idea, so I had to make it. It cost me about $3 to make! I love things that are super easy and cheap to make. What you need: Egg Carton Scissors Tissue paper Little Prizes Glue Glue Stick Here's how you make it: Start with an empty egg carton. I used the 18 egg size. Family Fun did the 12 egg size and did a 12 day count down. Mine will be a 9 day countdown and each of my children will get a prize each day. First, cut off the lid and cut off all the top knobby things. You want it to be flat. Next you need to make a top, I flipped the egg carton upside down and traced it on the tissue paper. Cut little circles out of tissue paper to cover each hole. You will then glue the circles to the tissue paper. I used a glue stick to do that part. I decided to embellish mine a little more. I added numbers on each one so my kids know what which one they can get each day. (My tissue paper colors were limited, but you could really make these fun with other colors) I went to the Dollar store and bought $3 worth of prizes. (My only cost) Next you'll put the little prizes inside each cup. Last but not least, you'll put glue all around the edges of the carton and lay your cover on top. Let it dry and it will be ready for your kids to punch out each day before Easter. My kids are already excited to see what's hidden behind each number! What a fun little idea huh? I love it! ~Brit |
